Sunchaser 4

A technology demonstration

Through a TUT multi-departmental “going-green through renewable energies” cross-disciplinary collaboration effort, after being introduced to the Sasol Solar Challenge in 2012 (SSC), the TUT established its very own Solar Electric Vehicle (SEV) program in 2014 and since then produced a new prototype SEV about every two years with a total of four produced to date. The aim of the TUT was to acquire skills to design, manufacture and commission as many of the areas of the cars as possible, and progressively improving iteratively. The series of prototype SEVs are called SunChaser, and TUT is currently boasting its fourth generation, called SunChaser4 (SC4).
